We’re a curious bunch and that’s just one of the reasons why so many of us love to go travelling. People talk about various destinations around the world that they want to visit, and many choose to go early in their lives as part of their infamous “gap years”, while others might go to the destination of their dreams on a honeymoon.
Then, of course, you have the kind of people who just love to explore new places. Some get itchy feet when they’ve been home for a few months (even weeks in some cases), and they just can’t wait to book their next holidays.
Everyone has their own favourite or preferred destinations, with every single traveller favouring different things. Even within couples you’ll often find one person that likes a sun-kissed beach holiday, and another who prefers a more cultural city break.
Whatever your own stance is, there are some places that you simply have to visit if you’re a fan of travelling on a regular basis. Of course, some will only be reachable if you have a sizeable budget available to allow you to jet off to the sun, but others are much more realistic options.
To help you to make up your mind over your next holiday destination, here are five countries that you just have to visit if you’ve caught the travelling bug.
Thailand
Not only is Thailand a marvellous place to visit, it’s actually more affordable than you might think. A holiday to the other side of the world might not sound cheap, but your money goes a long way in Thailand. It’s also very warm all year round, meaning that you don’t have to think about a seasonal holiday, you can just book it, pack your bags and jet off, which is often exactly what the doctor ordered.
There are a great selection of tours in Thailand that will help you to see the very best the country has to offer, enabling you to take in all of the landmarks and picturesque locations that you might not otherwise be aware of, let alone interested in seeing.
Australia
Whoever you speak to about travelling, they always seem to bring up Australia. For whatever reason it’s one of those countries that people always suggest you go to, saying that it was such a wonderful place and they’d love to go back.
Whether you want to ride the waves on Bondi Beach or to abseil from the Sydney harbour bridge, there’s something for everyone in Australia (as you might expect from a country the size of a continent!)
The Maldives
One of the most popular destinations for people going on honeymoon, the Maldives are known for being incredibly picturesque and a truly incredible, exotic location like the ones you always dream of.
Crystal clear waters, stunning sunshine, white sandy beaches, and the opportunity to go snorkelling with exotic fish in paradise… I don’t really need to say much more!
Mexico
While Mexico might be well known for its incredible food (it’s making me hungry just thinking about it), it’s also known for its history and beautiful scenery.
A hot country, you’re almost guaranteed plenty of sunshine and the Pacific Coast has some stunning little towns and villages that are so welcoming you almost want to stay forever. Of course, no trip to Mexico would be complete without getting into the party spirit, and you’re unlikely to miss out – they’re happening all the time!
Italy
While Italy might not sound as exotic as Thailand, the Maldives or Dubai, it is every bit as beautiful.
Rolling countryside, beautiful lakes and mountains, and plenty of gorgeous, warm, sunny beaches in the South, a lot of tourists choose to travel around Italy either by road or rail, taking in all of the history, culture and great weather (particularly in the summer).
The leaning tower of Pisa, the flooded streets of Venice, the culture (and fashion) of Milan, the wine in Tuscany, the list goes on.
Oh, and the food isn’t too bad either! Anyone for pizza?
